How To Break Down Laser Tattoo Removal Cost: A Guide for 2023

We all understand or at least have heard that laser tattoo removal is expensive but most people don’t really know laser tattoo removal costs. Now I’d like to start by saying that Laser tattoo removal pricing is different depending on where you are and where the laser studio is located but most places will share similar pricing so I wanted to give you a guide on what to expect.

How our pricing works

Tattoo removal cost sheet
Pricing sheet for laser tattoo removal cost

At Black Sage Laser we have a pricing sheet that we use to see just how much a tattoo would cost and the pricing sheet is made up of square inches. The pricing is as follows:

  • $99 for the first square inch
  • $20 for each additional square inch
  • For Large scale tattoos, I always like to talk to my clients in person so we can work on a plan together.

Something to keep in mind is that if your tattoo is only an outline it will be a different investment than a fully filled in tattoo. For example, a 6 square inch tattoo is around $200 per treatment, BUT if that tattoo was only an outline we would likely be able to fit all that ink into 2-3 square inches so that would cut the tattoo removal cost down by $40 to $60 per treatment.

Every tattoo is unique and so are we!

We are all humans and therefore we all see different results than the next person does. Not only that but all tattooers are unique and although you might think they all tattoo exactly the same, they don’t. Because of these factors, knowing exactly how many treatments you’ll need for your coverup or full removal can be a very hard thing to judge until we actually begin the process of removal. We know the average full removal of a tattoo over 10 years is around 12 sessions and for a coverup it’s roughly 1/2 that. This is always why tattoo removal costs can differ per client. Other factors that can vary the amount of treatments are, heath such as smoking, daily activity and water intake.

Consultations are the best thing!

At the end of the day it’s best to talk to someone about your laser needs. After so many years experience working with different humans and different tattoos we can usually tell by looking at a tattoo what you are in for as far as treatment sessions and cost. These days I encourage people to come see me in person as often as I can but online consultations are also a possibility. Either way we can get a good look at the tattoo and give a better estimate on the laser tattoo removal cost overall.

Plan for a monthly cost

When you are ready to begin the process I’ll walk you though everything you need to know in our consultation. One thing we cover is how often the treatments can happen which is usually once a month. Using the methods I use combined with the absolute best in laser tattoo removal technology I am able to send my clients home little to no side effects. This allows us to keep more consistent appointments. I always tell my clients if we have to skip a month it’s no big deal but it is a good thing to stay consistent on treatments in order to see the best results.

A few things to consider

Laser tattoo removal cost can be very extensive so it’s best to think ahead about your plan. If you are going for a coverup with a tattooer and you have to wait a year or more before you can get tattooed then now is the best time to start. Most tattooers these days are booked a year out and if we plan it correctly you will basically be able to go from getting your laser tattoo removal treatments right to getting your new tattoo.

Secondly if you have a wedding or event in your life that you are planning on and would like to see that tattoo be mostly gone before hand, the best idea is to plan as far ahead as you can. Tattoo removal is not a fast process so the more time the better. Good news is we can usually get tattoos light enough to at least be covered up by makeup easily for those events.

Lastly

When you’re ready to start your journey into laser tattoo removal it’s important to ask questions. So many laser places out there are interested in selling you on huge packages while not REALLY covering things like side effects and time frames. I always say, even if you’re not coming to me, remember to ask questions, be annoying if you have to! This is your body and your money and you should know 100% what you’re getting into before hand. I offer free consultation for everyone so don’t hesitate to come see me even if you just want some info!
